2025 Spring Statement - reactive

Responding to the 2025 Spring Statement, Patriotic Millionaires UK member Julia Davies said,

Some decisions come down to a matter of choice.
Today’s statement confirmed the British people’s fears: working people and the most vulnerable will continue to bear the brunt of our struggling economy. While the government’s decision to invest in HMRC and tackling the tax gap is important, it falls short of the decisive reforms needed to ensure that those of us with significant wealth contribute our fair share. We millionaires should be required to pay more in taxes.

As Patriotic Millionaires we have all benefited greatly from living in this country and understand that a strong economy depends on well-funded public services, thriving communities, and a fair tax system. Instead of asking those who have benefited most from our economy to contribute a little more, the Government is choosing to further cut welfare—despite over a decade of austerity that has already eroded the social safety net for disabled people. This is a decision they do not have to make.

True patriotism means investing in our country’s future—ensuring that our schools, hospitals, and local services are properly funded and strong and that economic justice is prioritised. For the government, this means not only addressing tax avoidance but also ensuring the fair taxation of extreme wealth, so that those with the broadest shoulders contribute their fair share.

The time for bold, collective leadership is now. No more cuts—tax our wealth and invest in Britain’s future.
