About PMUK

Patriotic Millionaires UK is a non-profit organisation addressing the destabilising impact of economic inequality. We represent a network of UK millionaires using the unique voice of wealth to fight inequality and advocate for progressive tax reform.

Since our founding in January 2021, we have worked with others in the sector to build momentum and make significant inroads to get tax and extreme wealth onto the political agenda. We work collaboratively across the tax justice and progressive economy sectors, both in the UK and globally.

We believe that our work can lead to better economic balance and sustainability and a fundamentally more equal society.

About the role

As we continue to grow and amplify our impact, we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our Board of Directors. This role is vital in guiding our strategic vision and ensuring we remain a strong voice for economic justice.

Patriotic Millionaires International is a Company Limited by Guarantee which runs as a non-profit. Whilst our board are not called trustees we expect them to act in the way as charity trustees - ensuring our activities remain within our vision and purpose, that the organisation complies with our governing document and the law, is accountable and well managed.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Oversight: Contributing to the development and oversight of our strategic plan.

  • Financial Stewardship: Ensuring the organisation is financially sustainable and that resources are used effectively; actively support fundraising strategy for the organisation

  • Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrating capacity to ensure first-class leadership and model our core values, fostering a positive and productive board culture.

Within the next year we plan to appoint an official Chair of the Board of Directors and the person joining the Board would ideally be open to considering this opportunity in due course.

A time commitment of around 1 day per month is required. The board currently meets four times a year, and there are occasional ad hoc calls on specific issues. Patriotic Millionaires International is a company limited by guarantee and we have an appropriate director and officers liability insurance policy in place.

This is a voluntary role and directors aren’t paid for their time. We will pay all reasonable expenses,

including childcare or other care support; travel, accommodation and food for in-person meetings.

We will provide upfront payments for expenses where this is a barrier to participation.  The board  role does not currently have a  term limit but this is open to discussion.
